The Princess Beatrix lock is a monumental inland navigation lock in Nieuwegein in the Lekkanaal. Around 50,000 ships pass through the Prinses Beatrsixlsuis every year. The Lek canal has been widened and a new 3rd chamber has been added, this is larger than the existing two channels. After this renovation, inland vessels can pass faster and more safely.
Compass was commissioned to realise the fibre-optic network for, among other things, controlling the lock gates. The fibre-optic network is connected by Compass to the ring of the ministry of Infrastructure. We have installed more than 60 cameras around and in the lock complex and are connected to the network.
